NEWQUAY'S top scorer Dave Rabone was sent off after leaders Penryn secured victory in the Jolly's Cornwall Combination League on Saturday with an 84th minute penalty.

Dan Richardson's spot kick brought to a finish a tight duel that provided both sides with chances.

The penalty and Rabone's red card completed a miserable afternoon for the Peppermints, who saw Shaun Lawrence miss a penalty earlier. Rabone had also hit the bar.

Newquay's teenage left-back Oliver Morrison showed up well, as did lively winger Danny Carne.
