Mrs Grant said: "What makes Rose so special and a worthy recipient of the award is her ability to reach out and care for others around her."

She is heavily involved with the Methodist chapel and organises craft fairs and flower festivals as part of Penryn Fair Day, and has raised funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Appeal, making and selling cards. She arranges poppies and wreaths for the Royal British Legion, serves refreshments for Penryn Federation, runs Mabe Gardening Club, helps elderly residents, running errands, and helps out at functions and charity events.

Mrs Grant said she has served the town in an "outstanding and conscientious manner".

Mrs Tucker also helps residents in a variety of practical ways – taking them to hospital appointments, collecting shopping and prescriptions.

She also helped set up The Saracen Tenants' and Residents' Association and runs the fundraising bingo sessions, which help prevent isolation and monitor people's wellbeing.

Mrs Grant said: "She has been nominated for her ceaseless community involvement and for her tireless help and support for friends and neighbours – she always puts others before herself."
