Pensans school returns favour by hosting Mumbai teachers
TWO teaching assistants (TAs) recently visited their partner school in Mumbai, India and this week Pensans School was returning the favour by hosting two teachers from India.
Pensans School’s Nic Edmands and Angela Driscoll were guests of the Reading Tree Pre-School in Mumbai to look at ways to improve the partnership and move it on to a higher level but in doing so they said they “were treated amazingly and had one of the best experiences of their lives”.
The teachers and students in Mumbai taught them to do traditional Indian dances, celebrate festivals from around India, dress in authentic saris and learn simple Indian songs.
There were workshops put on, to show them how the children learn, and rest times, when they went to see a Bollywood movie and experience the markets of Mumbai.

In return, Nic and Angela taught the children and adults at The Reading Tree some traditional Cornish language for colours and numbers, a Cornish song and they did activities around a Cornish seagull story.
Nic and Angela said: “We can’t believe how much we’ve learnt from being in India.
“The place was amazing and the people were fab. How they teach the children is very simple and lets the children use their imagination to draw their own conclusions.”
