Penzance enjoy rare win over Falmouth
The third round of the Throgmorton South West Peninsula League Cup began with two shock results on Friday, when Falmouth Town and Plymouth Parkway lost in ties they were expected to win.
Falmouth took a two-goal lead at Penzance, thanks to two Mark Vercesi headers, only for the winless Magpies to hit back and take the tie into extra-time courtesy of goals from Jeremy Blake and Harry Coin. Further goals from Joel McWilliams and Liam Dent made it 4-2 before Jamie Devine hit Town's final goal in the second period but it was the Magpies who claimed a third-round tie at home to Helston Athletic.
Parkway lost 4-3 at home to a Liskeard Athletic side who had not won in their last five games. Ryan Richards scored twice for Parkway, either side of Will Stringer's penalty, but the Blues deservedly earned a third round tie at home to Tavistock thanks to goals from Andrew Neal, Lyle Johnson, Chris Clarke (penalty) and Steve Sims.
Goals from Ben Annis and Sam Davey saw Launceston beat Callington Town 2-0 to earn a home tie against Saltash United.

Two late goals from Jamie Ahearn and substitute Ian Rooke saw Tavistock come from behind to beat Wadebridge Town, after Dan Jennings had given the Bridgers a first-half lead.
Newquay had Danny Brook, Ashley Piggott and Dave Trott on target as they won 3-1 at Exeter Civil Service who had James Clampin scoring their goal before getting sent off.
Darren Hicks scored a hat-trick of penalties, alongside efforts from Paul Baker and Liam Thornton, as Torpoint Athletic won 5-2 at Galmpton United, who had Robbie Bowker and Alex Bayliss scoring their goals.

Richard Maddison hit a hat-trick, alongside Ross Saint's penalty and Matt Cusack's close-range effort, as Saltash beat Teignmouth. Dobwalls won 5-4, after extra time, at Newton Abbot Spurs.
