Penzance gallery owner delighted at Cornwall Today
THE owner of a small Penzance art gallery says she is “chuffed to bits” that she was shortlisted in the 2013 Cornwall Today awards.
Although Cornwall Contemporary, in Parade Street, missed out on taking top spot in the Best Art Gallery category – Tate St Ives was the winner – the gallery was nevertheless highly commended and owner Sarah Brittain said she delighted to have reached the final stage of a competition which attracted thousands of votes from members of the public.
“I feel honoured to have made it so far and to be in the mix with the publicly-funded ‘big boys’ such as Tate St Ives and Penlee House Gallery,” she said (the other two finalists in the gallery category were the Drang Gallery, Padstow and Falmouth Art Gallery).
“It’s been the icing on the cake as 2013 has been a very good year for us,” she said.
