People passionate about Cornwall's woodlands sought by charity
People in Cornwall who are passionate about trees and keen to pass on their knowledge and expertise to others are being sought by The Woodland Trust.
The charity is recruiting 'Woodland Creation Champions' in the Duchy to inspire, advise and support those interested in planting trees and creating woodland.
-

Creation Champions will engage with individuals, communities and landowners, sometimes visiting sites to boost confidence and provide encouragement to those planting for the first time.
The aim of the scheme is to inspire people to value Cornwall's trees and woodlands and to help the Trust achieve its ambition of doubling the amount of woodland across the UK .

Champions can also choose to attend regional and local agricultural shows and events to talk with the public about their experiences.
John Tucker, Woodland Trust Director of Woodland Creation, said: "Cornwall is rich in ancient woodland, but we want to find people who are interested in creating new woods of their own.
"By sharing your love and knowledge of the subject in your local area, you could provide the inspiration needed for somebody to get involved.
"A network of enthusiastic, supportive Woodland Creation Champions will help to spread the message that planting trees is an enjoyable, rewarding and affordable experience. We hope that the Champions themselves will also benefit from the role."
Volunteers would be required to dedicate around two hours a week to the scheme and need to have good communication skills.
