Perranporth surfer Ben Skinner in world championship competition
Perranporth surfer and European longboard champion, Ben “Skindog” Skinner, has flown to Peru where he will compete at the first ever ISA World Longboard Championship as part of Team GB.
The inaugural event has attracted surfers from all over the globe who will battle it out to be crowned the top longboard surfer in the world.
The competition takes places at Huanchaco in Peru. Longboarding has traditionally been a division of the ISA World Surfing Games since 1988. Due to the growing popularity of the Longboard division and the increase in participating athletes, the ISA has organized its own World Championship with specialized longboarding judges at one of the best surfing destinations in the world.
The competition kicks off later today and will run for six days until September 28.

Ben won his 11th European title last week in the Azores. He immediately flew out to South America to join his team mates at the prestigious competition.
Together, they launched a crowd funding campaign to fund their trip to the world championships.
Over £5,000 has been donated to the team by members of the public.
