Pet collie dies after 100ft cliff fall in west Cornwall
A BLACK and white collie has died after falling almost 100ft off a cliff near Nanquidno in west Cornwall in bad weather yesterday.
Rescue teams attempted to save the 8-year-old dog from the cliffside between Sennen and St Just yesterday afternoon, however the pet died from injuries sustained in the fall.
Land's End and Penzance Coastguard teams were called to the incident at 2.30pm after the collie, believed to be called Paige, had fallen off the cliffs.
Its owners, local farmers, had seen the dog move after falling, and the coastguard teams approached the site by carrying equipment over sodden fields near the cliff edge.
