The Plymouth and West Devon Record Office and the Devon Family History Society are joining forces to offer two family history workshops for would-be genealogists.
Each workshop will include an introduction to the Ancestry and Find My Past websites and guidance about using the sites. They will also include a behind-the-scenes tour of the Record Office with advice on how to use the Family History room.
"Genealogy is really popular because it makes history relevant and there are many online resources available to help people discover more about their past," says City Archivist, Louisa Mann. "Our workshops are intended to help those who are relatively new to family history get to grips with these online resources and better understand how to get the most out of them."
The cost for the workshops on Monday, April 16 and Saturday, April 21, is £10 per person, including tea and coffee and free parking. Advance booking is essential on 01752 305940. For more information about the Record Office visit www.plymouth.gov.uk/archives.
