After a dramatic week off the field at the Cornish Pirates, with the delay to the Stadium for Cornwall project and the announcement that High Performance Manager Chris Stirling will leave the club on a sabbatical at the end of the season, it is back to events on the field on Sunday, writes Dick Straughan.

Welsh Premiership side Cross Keys travel to the Mennaye Field (2pm) to face the Pirates in the British & Irish Cup with both teams virtually assured their places in the quarter-finals.

The Pirates have rung the changes after a punishing few weeks of Championship action but have decided against recalling fly-half Aaron Penberthy from his loan at Redruth.

Instead Penberthy will line-up against the Cornish All Blacks at Polson Bridge tomorrow, with Myles Dorrian again deputising for the injured Jonny Bentley in the Pirates line-up. Fit again Ceiron Thomas takes over at full-back and Rob Cook is rested.

There are also returns in the backs for Andrew Suniula, Matt Evans and Tom Cooper, while wing Darren Daniel makes his competitive debut for the club. The Welshman has been out of action since suffering a knee injury at Worcester in August.

Up front Laurie McGlone gets a rest with Matt Smith replacing him in the second row. Mike Myerscough faces a late fitness test on an ankle injury with Ian Nimmo on standby to cover.

Cornish Pirates team: Thomas, Daniel, Suniula, Cooper, Evans, Dorrian, J.Doherty, Storer, Ward, Brits, Smith, Myerscough, Morgan (capt), Burgess, Maidment. Replacements – Paver, Elloway, Marriott, Cowan, Cattle, Pointer, McAtee.
