Pirates slay Warriors at Sixways
Worcester Warriors 21 Cornish Pirates 24
The Cornish Pirates bounced back from last weekend`s heavy defeat at the hands of Exeter Chiefs by running in four tries to beat Worcester Warriors for the second time in a year at Sixways, writes Dick Straughan.
A week ago the Pirates looked incredibly rusty against the powerful Chiefs but here they proved tricky opponents for the Warriors who begin their Premiership campaign next Saturday against Sale Sharks.
The Warriors made all the early running but once quick thinking and an equally quick tap penalty from centre Drew Locke had provided the opening try, the Pirates grew in confidence.

Tom Arscott`s converted try briefly gave the lead to Worcester just before the break but once Darren Daniel and Josh Drauniniu returned from the sin-bin the Pirates struck again as Cook put in Kyle Marriott to score in the right corner. Cook converted for a 12-7 half-time lead.
David Doherty`s scorching 70 yard touchdown followed two minutes into the second half after Ward had stolen Warriors possession and Laurie McGlone claimed the fourth Pirates try after 50 minutes from a strong driving maul.
Worcester fought back with close range scores from former Pirates lock Ben Gulliver and flanker Matt Kvesic but the Pirates held on for a creditable win in the Midlands.
