Plan for £18m hotel at historic naval yard
A deal has been agreed which will see an £18 million 60-bedroom hotel open in Plymouth's Royal William Yard.
It was revealed last month that plans were being drawn to site a 60-bedroom urban boutique hotel in the yard's Melville Building.
These have taken a major step forward with the signing of an agreement for a lease between Urban Splash, the award-winning developer of the former naval victualling yard, and the team behind the renowned north Cornwall-based Watergate Bay Hotel. It is due to open in 2015.
The £18 million investment will transform the prominent Melville building, in the heart of RWY, into a "stunning destination boutique hotel" – centered around the distinctive clock tower and courtyard. Plans include two restaurants, members' club, 25m swimming-pool and events space.
