Plans for BMX track, skate park and pitch at Redruth to move forward
THE dream of a new skate- park, BMX track and artificial turf for Redruth is slowly becoming a reality after potential plans were discussed by councillors.
A presentation delivered to Redruth Town Council's amenities committee outlined five different proposals for the new skatepark.
The committee has asked for council officers to whittle the list down to three potential projects for the East End Playing Fields.
Although a step forward, councillors have said the skatepark was still some way off because substantial funding was needed.

But plans were "moving forward in the background" and officers will meet again to discuss how best to continue after the three options have been chosen.
It is believed the plans will be made available to the public at that point.
Mayor of Redruth Judy Davidson said: "The town council is behind these proposals 100 per cent. It is envisioned that the new skatepark will be another attraction for people to come to from outside of Redruth.
"Anything that can generate footfall through or near to the town centre has to be a good thing."
A mobile skatepark introduced to the town in 2011 was positively received. But it also highlighted that there was a need for the new facility.
The plans include a BMX track, which could circle the new park. On top of that, a multi-use games area will be built, which could include facilities such as basketball hoops or football pitches, depending on budgets.
