The Plaza provides a perfect Weekend Retreat
CORNWALL-BASED production company o-region presents a special one-off preview screening of its new feature film Weekend Retreat at The Plaza cinema in Truro on Sunday.
The film is a darkly comic thriller set in an isolated house in the picturesque Cornish countryside. Karen Campbell has brought her husband Duncan away for a "quiet weekend", a chance to communicate and rebuild their fractured marriage.
During their first night they're taken hostage by Kevin and Gary, estranged brothers desperate for money who thought the house was empty. Gaffer-taped back to back the Campbell's marriage is pushed to the limit while the Tregidger brothers can't stop bickering long enough to get the job done. As the weekend draws on the stakes are raised as secrets are revealed and body parts are lost ....
Weekend Retreat was written and directed by Truro-based Brett Harvey and was shot largely on location in St Wenn in June 2010. It boasts a fantastic cast consisting Esther Hall (best known for being the love interest in the long-running BT adverts), Dominic Coleman (Catherine Tate, Psychoville) and Dudley Sutton (Lovejoy, The Football Factory) together with well-known Cornish actors Dean Nolan and Simon and Dan Harvey.

Fresh from its successful preview screening at the Cornwall Film Festival, where it collected the Delabole Slate Golden Chough Award for the film that best captures the spirit of the festival, the producers are excited to be screening the finished film at the Plaza Cinema.
Brett said: "The Plaza feels like home to me, it's where I spent so much of my childhood and saw so many influential films. The chance to see my own film in that particular cinema, in my home town, is a dream come true. We're going to take the film out on the festival circuit next year, so this will be the last chance to catch it before it's let loose on the world."
The film screens on Sunday at 6pm, tickets are available over the counter in the Plaza or at www.wtwcinemas.co.uk
