Mother left on 'cosmic trek'
A DISTRAUGHT grandmother is appealing to the people of Truro to help find her daughter who left her three children behind and is believed to be in the area.
The family of Kelly Rich, 30, said her departure from North Devon followed a pattern of bizarre behaviour after she read a "cosmic instruction manual".
They said Miss Rich recently asked her teenage son if he wanted to go to another planet with her and gave him a book called E.T. 101: The Cosmic Instruction Manual, which claims to reveal humanity's extraterrestrial origins.
She left home on May 27 to take her two youngest children to see their father in Bristol. When she did not return, family searched her house and found bags of presents and cards.

A letter to her son James, 13, veered between the moving and the worrying.
She wrote: "I'm so proud of you. You are amazing. Please make sure the little ones are OK. They're going to need their big brother.
"Remember we can talk to each other through our minds. You are always in my heart my love, my green man."
Rosie, 7, and Max, 5, were also left letters but have not been allowed to open them yet due to their age.
The children's grandmother, Sara Jackson, said her daughter's parting gifts left her "crying her eyes out".
Miss Rich was thinking so far in advance that she left a present for the future child of her sister, who is not yet pregnant.
Mrs Jackson said: "Kelly is not an organised person. It was just so well thought out and this is definitely not Kelly."
Miss Rich visited Truro police station to tell officers she was "safe and well".
But Mrs Jackson said: "How can she be safe and well if she's left her children behind?"
The family have now plastered the Truro area with 'missing person' posters.
Miss Rich is believed to be in the company of local man Psymon Izzy, formerly Simon Rundle, who is in his fifties. The pair were seen together in the One Eyed Cat bar in Truro.
Letters Miss Rich posted from Cornwall said she was sick, leaving her family worried she may not be getting appropriate medical treatment.
Mrs Jackson hopes anyone with information will call her on 07986 570877.
