Poldark owner was pasty fest's driving force
IT was with great sadness that we heard of the death of Richard Williams, owner of Poldark Mine, who lost his long battle with cancer.
Right up to the time of his death he was the driving force behind bringing our friends from Real del Monte over to join our celebrations at the Cornish Pasty Festival weekend and was one of the people that had the original idea for the event.

He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with Pam and his family.
The finance and general purposes committee voted to progress the setting up of the youth council and agreed a budget the young people will be responsible for managing.

The next step will be for the nominated officer to start publicising and recruiting for the council.
We want a wide section of youngsters between the ages of 11 and 19 to be involved and will be holding open sessions with refreshments so they can find out more about the project and ask questions in a relaxed atmosphere.
We shall also be contacting various organisations involved with young people to publicise the youth council.
I attended a meeting last week to finalise arrangements to replant and redesign the roundabout at Barncoose.
The inconvenience will be well worth tolerating to have a smart, well cared-for entrance to the town, and this signals another step forward in lifting Redruth's image to visitors and local people and making us proud of our town.
