Police are still appealing for information in connection with the incident in which Falmouth taxi driver Jim Jones was threatened by two men with a mallet and robbed.
The men had also robbed a second man on the street and attempted to smash their way into a car park cash machine.
Lead investigator Detective Sergeant Helen Shears described it as "a brazen series of crimes".
All three incidents happened in a 15 minute period on Monday evening.
The two men had been spotted trying to break in to the coin operated machine at Well Lane car park at about 8.20pm.
They then went along Gyllyng Street where they approached a man and threatened him with the wooden mallet and snatched money out of his wallet
He was left shaken but unhurt.
It is understood the suspects then got in a taxi outside Iceland and asked to go to Old Hill.
During the journey they threatened the taxi driver and demanded money, so he handed over his red and black moneybag and Roxy wallet.
Both these are still missing and the driver was left extremely shaken.
Det Sgt Shears said: "I must stress that incidents like this are extremely rare in Cornwall, but they are of real concern to us."
She is not ruling out the offence is related to a similar robbery last month where a man and woman in their 20s were sitting on a bench in Windsor Terrace at about 2.30am when they were approached by two men with knives.
Although the men did not use the knives and no one was hurt, police said it was a very distressing incident.
Police are particular keen to hear from a man and a woman seen talking to the men in the car park.
The men are described as teens to early 20s, slim build, around 5'10 and wearing great hooded tops.
