Police helicopter crew arrest burglary suspects near Polyphant
At about 9:40am on Sunday morning the Devon and Cornwall Police helicopter was deployed to an incident on the A30 in Cornwall. A vehicle was failing to stop for police and travelling at speed in excess of 100 miles per hour. The occupants were suspected of involvement in crime.
The vehicle, a blue Ford Mondeo ST, was lost from sight prior to the arrival of the helicopter but was believed to be located within a contained area south of Launceston. Information from members of the public narrowed the search area. The helicopter crew commenced to assist in the search of the area for the vehicle which was then located abandoned by a ground unit near Polyphant.

The helicopter crew quickly located two persons, who matched the description of the occupants of the vehicle, walking along hedge lines of fields away from the abandoned vehicle. Due to the remote location, the helicopter landed nearby to allow the two Police Air Observers to alight from aircraft and using their police powers detain the two men, who were then handed over to local officers on their arrival.
The two males are assisting police with their enquiries into a number of crimes.
