Police target region's illegal money lenders
A crackdown on illegal loan sharks in the South West has been launched by police. A specialist team of officers with the England Illegal Money Lending Team were brought into the region to target suspects in Cornwall, working with the local authority. A 34-year-old man from Launceston was questioned about illegal money lending and released without charge. Officers also inspected a house and seized documentation. Teams across the country have secured 218 prosecutions for illegal money lending and helped more than 19,000 victims.
