Police use golf buggy to track down an absconder
A MODE of transport usually only seen on a golf course was used by Isles of Scilly police while arresting a man who had failed to appear in a mainland court.
With no conventional police vehicle available on car-banned Tresco, Sergeant Colin Taylor and PC Collier delivered the absconder, in his thirties and working on the island, to Tresco heliport by golf buggy.

Police take the absconder off in a golf buggy.
He was flown out to the mainland to appear later before magistrates.
"Every year we locate someone who has come to Scilly with a warrant for their arrest hanging over their heads," said Sergeant Taylor.

"The constabulary are very efficient at tracking down such fugitives so it doesn't matter if you are in Tiverton or Tresco, Bude or Boscastle, we will endeavour to find them and put them before the court as initially intended.
"Scilly is not a sleepy hollow people can hide away in."
