Pony rescued from St Blazey mineshaft
A PONY was rescued after falling 15 ft down an old mineshaft in St Blazey yesterday.
Fire fighters from St Austell and Bodmin were scrambled to the scene and helped the Shetland pony from the collapsed adit yesterday at about 2.15pm.
Two officers including a technical rescue officer and four appliances from St Austell and Bodmin helped free the animal, a Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said.
It took over two hours with emergency services using air shore poles, a triple extension ladder and lines to get the pony out of the shaft.
