Popular Flappy Bird mobile phone game for sale in Cornwall for £2,950
A hit mobile phone game that was removed from online stores on Monday has brought out an entrepreneurial side of some Cornish people looking to seize a money-making opportunity.
Flappy Bird, described as one of the most simple, yet frustrating game to have ever been created, sees players tap the screen of their mobile phone to navigate a bird between a series of pipes.
More than a dozen people from Cornwall have listed their iPhone for sale on online market place Gumtree with a copy of the now “rare” Flappy Bird game installed on it because it is no longer available on Apple’s app store or Google Play.
But those needing a Flappy Bird fix will have to shell out between £500 - £2,950, the price tag set by Cornish sellers.
It was downloaded more than 50 million times before its creator, Vietnamese Dong Nguyen, announced he would take the game down because it had “ruined his life”.
An iPhone with Flappy Bird installed on it that had been listed on online auction site Ebay was asking for £10 million.
Meanwhile a bidding war was on going by more than 60 people who were prepared to pay £91,000 for the phone with Flappy Bird installed.
But this has since been taken down. It is not clear if the website or the seller removed it.
