PORTHLEVEN manager John Dent says he should not have to motivate his players for Saturday's Westinsure Cornwall Senior Cup quarter-final against Truro City reserves at Treyew Road (2.30pm kick-off), writes Kevin Marriott.

Dent's side didn't have the best of preparations for their biggest game of the season, crashing 4-1 at home to Plymstock in the league only a week after playing superbly to knock Camelford out of the Senior Cup.

But Dent said: "We are playing for a potential semi-final place so my job should be easy this weekend.

"It just depends which Porthleven turns up at Truro. The boys were excellent against Camelford and you wouldn't have believed it was the same players against Plymstock.

"The players let themselves down on Saturday, they know that, but I am sure they will be motivated for the Truro match."

Dent added: "I think I under-estimated how much the Camelford game took out of the players to be honest.

"The game was played in very heavy conditions and they really put some effort into that performance. At the end of the day we are only amateurs and we had a lot of tired players out there against Plymstock."

The squad trained on Tuesday night but Dent said: "We didn't do anything too strenuous. Just enough."

Truro will be without Josh Bragg and Kieran Conibear-Trathen, who are going to play in Sweden, while former Porthleven player Pat Shaughnessy is a doubt because of work commitments.
