Power cut hits Truro and Richard Lander School
MORE than 1,500 properties in Truro lost electrical power this afternoon.
The outage hit at 4.21pm but in many houses the lights were back on within minutes.
Power was lost at Richard Lander School, which had been due to hold an open evening, and surrounding properties.
A spokesman for Western Power Distribution said the outage was caused by a conductor failure.
He said 1,587 properties were affected. After shutting down a part of the power grid for safety, 1,222 homes had their electricity back on within a minute.
After 25 minutes, a further 300 properties were reconnected.
An hour after the start of the outage, only three properties were still without power and were expected to be reconnected later this evening.
