"The maximum grant we could have received was £10,000, and we didn't think for one minute we'd get the full amount, so when the letter came from the Big Lottery sating we'd got it, we were thrilled," she said.
"The new outdoor classroom will mean that even if there's wind and rain the children will be sheltered, and can play safely with the new rubber flooring."
The pre-school is housed in a purpose-built base at Trewint playing fields at Rock, built for it only a few years ago.
Local firm Schoolscapes of Wadebridge, which specialises in providing school equipment, has been contracted to build the new outdoor classroom.
"It should be completed by half-term week in October, and we're planning an open day with a barbecue after all the new equipment is in place," Mrs Hawtin said.
The are almost 30 children currently attending the pre-school and it is hoped more will be starting there shortly.
"The pre-school started 40 years ago in the parish hall at St Minver," she said. "We're going from strength to strength, and to be awarded £10,000 is a fantastic achievement."
Manager Sally Fletcher said: "We have a great committee and due to their hard work and fundraising, we have been able to buy lots of new equipment in and around the pre-school."
