RNLI rescues 10 in one day at Polzeath
The first day of August proved to be one of the busiest this year for the RNLI lifeguards at Polzeath when they carried out ten rescues.
Conditions were perfect with a good two to three foot surf and an estimated 7,000 people headed to the beach, and at the busiest time of the day the lifeguards think there were about 1,200 people in the sea.
RNLI lifeguard Craig O’Rouke, who was helming the inshore rescue boat, said his team carried out nine rescues while fellow lifeguard Christian Parker brought in a person on the rescue board.
The duty lifeguard team also dealt with four minor first aid incidents and six lost children.
