JEFFERYS AUCTIONS, LOSTWITHIEL

Everything from Tri-ang to treen and semi-clad maidens to a bejewelled egg will feature in Jefferys' sale at The Auction Rooms Lostwithiel, on Wednesday.

A Royal Doulton figure Read All About it HN 2891 was produced for the Newspaper Society's 150th anniversary. Limited to 2,500 this figure number HN 2463 comes with the 150th anniversary issue of Newstime in 1986 which has an advert for this figure on page 66 which cost, in 1986, £77.63. This might persuade some buyer to part with £40-£60.

Also in the sale is the Royal Doulton Boy Evacuee HN 3202, which should make a bit more at £50-£80.

Carl Faberge was the famous Russian jeweller to the Tsars, only producing the finest quality pieces which now command staggering prices. In 1990 Faberge appointed the German jewel maker Victor Mayer to be their new workmaster.

An egg produced by the new jeweller has been entered for sale, 2cm in length in 18ct gold and inset diamonds. Reference f-2436 with certificate, it is a limited edition of 46/1000 and has a guide of £1,600-£2,000.

The Battle of Britain was an important part of our country's history. One of a limited edition of 400 Moroccan leather-bound volumes called ...so few is being offered, celebrating 25 RAF fighter pilots together with their silhouette portraits. Estimate £70-£100.

With the emergence of photography in the mid-19th century, ambitious photographers felt it was the golden opportunity to re-create famous paintings of semi-clad maidens.

An album of these photographs will be displayed on Jefferys' top shelf, expecting artistic admirers to bid £50-£100.

The Sheraton designs of the late 18th century were so elegant with their use of inlay, that the Edwardians revived the style. A inlaid salon armchair will be offered at £60-£100.

Although cockfighting was banned in England in 1835, it had been a popular sport.

A Mason's ironstone bowl decorated with several scenes of a cockfight has an estimate of £40-£60.

Although lacking a hinge, a 5in treen dog's head-shaped ink well is just a little different to the normal collectables – and a good home can be found in the £50-£80 range.

A hinged ivory card case in good order has been forwarded, if your initials of P & R match then for £70-£100 it could be yours.

A Tri-ang gyro-cycle was brought in by the vendor for sale. He was given it for his fourth birthday. Now 76 he has finally decided to sell it with a guide of £25-£40.
