BODMIN teenage swimmer Rebecca Anderson has been making waves at the Amateur Swimming Association's South Zonal Meet.

Rebecca, 13, a member of the Bodmin Dragons Swimming Club, took part in the event at Millfield, competing against the best young swimmers from across the south of England, all chasing qualification for the 2012 National Championships.

And in the 200 backstroke, Rebecca swam a time of 2:28.49 to secure a place in the final, breaking the Cornwall County ASA Junior Record in the process.

In the 100 backstroke the following day, Rebecca swam a sensational time of 1:07.63 to secure a place in the final, breaking the Cornwall County ASA Junior Record and Senior County Record.

Rebecca's time in the 100 backstroke is a qualifying time for the 2012 National Championships and also a qualifying time for the 2012 British Championships.

She will now be swimming in the 100 backstroke at the 2012 British Championships on Sunday March 4 which are taking place at the London Aquatics Centre, the venue for the swimming at the 2012 London Olympics.
