Rebels appeal for support in vital home leg

Somerset Rebels completed their regular Premier League season with a convincing 59-31 victory at home to Workington Comets, who, like the Rebels, will compete in the six-team play-off this month to determine the champions.
The Rebels dominated throughout, winning 12 of the 15 races and securing 11 heat advantages.
Captain Jason Doyle completed a paid maximum from his four rides – despite taking a hefty looking tumble in the first turn of the opening heat – with Alex Davies and Claus Vissing paid for 13 and 12, respectively, from their five outings.

A second successive maximum heat win for the Doyle/Davies combination in heat six saw the Comets reach for the "black and white" double point option but René Bach shed a chain when in a clear lead to gift the Rebels their third maximum race win of the night.
Rebels registered their fifth maximum race win in heat 13, confirming successive paid maximum for Doyle.
Workington gain a maximum race win of their own in heat 15, denying Vissing and Davies their own meeting maximums.
Before they tackle the play-offs, Somerset have the matter of a League Cup semi-final against Newcastle Diamonds to attend to, the first leg of which will be staged at the Oaktree Arena tomorrow.
With the tie being determined on the aggregate score over the two legs, the second leg being staged at the Newcastle Stadium on Sunday September 30, the Rebels will be looking to build up as big a lead as possible with which to travel to the North-East.
They will also be mindful of the league meeting between the two sides when they met at the Oaktree Arena back in July, when Newcastle stormed into an 11-point lead by the halfway stage of the meeting. The Rebels fought back in the second half of the match to take the victory by a three-point margin.
Somerset were without two of their riders that night, using rider replacement for the then injured Claus Vissing and Rohan Tungate as a guest replacement for Sam Masters.
Rebel fans are reminded that all adult and concessions paying at the turnstiles tomorrow night will receive a £2 discount voucher to be used at Somerset's first home group match in the Championship deciding play-offs, which is provisionally earmarked for Friday September 28.
"It goes without saying that we will be looking to build up a healthy lead come the end of Wednesday night with which to take with us when we go to Newcastle for the second leg," said Rebels promoter Debbie Hancock.
"We really need all those Rebels fans out there to get along to the Oaktree Arena to cheer the boys on in that quest."
