Recycling blaze likely to burn all night

Firefighters were expecting to work into the night to tackle a major fire at a Devon recycling plant. Some 400 tonnes of wood materials set alight yesterday morning at Greendale Barton, Woodbury Salterton near Exeter. Crews worked throughout the day and into the evening to try to extinguish the blaze using water jets and compressed foam. Mechanical diggers were used to create a fire break.
