Redruth to host specialist Italian food market
Redruth is hosting an Italian market aimed at promoting specialist European cuisine and the town’s link with food.
The event on Fore Street which runs from October 2, 3 and 4, follows on from Redruth’s pasty celebrations and offers authentic Italian food including parmigiano reggiano, salami, ciabatta flavoured breads, nougats, biscuits, olives, and specialist Sicilian pastry dessert, cannoli.
Lee Dunkley, Redruth community partnership officer, said “The Italian market is set to be a beautiful display of diverse culture and cuisine that we haven’t seen in Redruth for several years. The town has hosted French markets in the past, and formerly a small weekly market as well; however there hasn’t been anything of that kind for a long time.”
Medfood Italian Market approached Redruth to feature on its South West tour – showing that the town is on the map for food and drink events, he added.

“This will be down to a number of factors, not least the promotional work done with regard to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, and of course events like the hugely successful Pasty Festival.”
Hamed Javanmardi, managing director of Medfood, added: “Following success in other Cornish towns, we are very much looking forward to visiting Redruth and meeting local people at our market next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.”
The decorative red, white and green stalls will be visiting four locations across Cornwall throughout the autumn: Redruth, Helston, St Austell and Launceston. For more information contact Hamed Javanmardi on 0208 9026412.
