Redruth scrum-half to miss four games after sending off
Redruth scrum-half Greg Goodfellow will miss four of the club's National 2 South games, including Saturday's trip to the Cornish all Blacks, after being sent off for abusing the referee in the Reds’ home defeat against Cambridge on Saturday.
His case was considered by RFU Judicial Officer Christopher Quinlan QC on Tuesday, when Goodfellow pleaded guilty and agreed to the case being considered on “papers only” and apologised in writing having already apologised to the referee on the day.
The incident was regared as low entry (six weeks) and was reduced by two weeks because of the prompt guilty plea, the apology and waiving the right to a full hearing.
The judgement reads: ”(Greg Goodfellow) has fixtures for Redruth RFC on 14, 21, 28 September and 5 October. By this decision he will be suspended from playing rugby union and not able to play in any of those fixtures.”
