SCORES of friends and relatives of a missing woman have co-ordinated a frantic search for her, through a Facebook page set up to appeal for information on her whereabouts.

Well over 3,000 people had last night signed up to a section of the popular social networking site, dedicated to finding Elizabeth Delbridge, widely known as Beth.

Yesterday, the community care worker's boyfriend, Gwil Jones, said his girlfriend was "wonderful in every way", and said those who knew her were staying positive about her safe return.

He thanked all those who had been involved, and said the mammoth search effort was helping the family to cope with their anxiety.

Throughout the day, well-wishers posted details of areas they had searched on foot or in cars to try to find the 31-year-old, from Ashton, near Helston in West Cornwall. Others uploaded maps to try to pinpoint outstanding areas to be searched and highlight where she could be.

Some issued direct pleas to her to contact a friend or family member to let somebody know she is ok, as fear for her safety grows.

Ms Delbridge went missing on Monday, after she had contact with her family and friends at around 6.30am. They called police with concerns over her welfare.

Yesterday, her boyfriend Gwil Jones, 25, said Ms Delbridge was "distressed" during the phone call, and said her disappearance was out of character. He said friends and relatives were still trying to work out exactly what had driven her to vanish, but stressed that the matter was private.

Mr Jones said Ms Delbridge's older brother, Michael, was among a number of people to have spent the day searching the coastline, and areas where she has been known to visit. He said: "All Beth's friends – and even people who don't know her directly – have been out scouring Cornwall in their cars. Everyone has been fantastic. We're trying to get someone who lives in every area to go out looking."

He recognised that Ms Delbridge may no longer be in Cornwall, and said it was crucial that the appeal for information was extended as far as possible.

He broke down as he said: "Beth's a happy, gorgeous, loving and caring person. She's wonderful in every way, and she's so full of life.

"We're all very sad, and worried about her, but we're staying positive, because we know Beth."

He offered up "profuse thanks" to everyone who had forwarded the Facebook appeal page, Have You Seen Beth Delbridge, and praised the police for their "fantastic" work.

Ms Delbridge is slim, around 5ft 6in tall and has shoulder-length brown/black hair. She was driving a green VW Golf.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 08452 777444 quoting log reference 88 of February 22.
