Relief as Falmouth are up to second
FALMOUTH Town moved up to second in the premier division table thanks to Tuesday night's 2-0 win over Liskeard, although they left it late at Bickland Park, writes Lee Hall.
Second half goals from skipper Tom Smith (76) and Dan Green (85) sealed victory for Town, who have now won nine of their 10 games in 2010.
The result moves Falmouth three points clear of Carey's former club Bodmin Town, although they remain seven points adrift of leaders Buckland Athletic following the Devon club's 7-1 win over Holsworthy on Tuesday night.
"It did come as a bit of a relief in the end," admitted Carey.
"Liskeard came with a game plan and that was to play for a draw.
"But credit to our boys, we stuck at it and in the end we were rewarded with a couple of goals late on."
Carey was delighted to see his side move up to second, but he admits there is still a long way to go in the title race.
"We don't have a game on Saturday and that will give Bodmin a chance to go level on points with us again," said Carey.
"But we're on an excellent run right now, and all we can do is take each game as it comes."
