"There were about five police cars," said a local woman, who wished to remain anonymous.

"And there was police tape across the road with two policemen at the end of the road turning people away."

She added that she lived in a tight-knit neighbourhood and the alleged assault would have shocked everyone living there.

"It is lovely here, a lovely place," she said. "I am a bit churned up that something like that could happen."

The local man, in his forties, was arrested a short time after the incident was reported and released on bail until Monday, February 18.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference AP/13/365.
