Resignation not to do with 'ass' remark
A CAMBORNE Town Council member who referred to a former councillor as an "ass" has resigned.
Jeff Collins, the now former chairman of the amenities committee, resigned earlier this week, but claimed it was because he was fed up with members of the council – not because of his "inappropriate comment".
He had referred to former councillor Tony Bunce as an "ass" when Mr Bunce asked the council to look into waste spread by seagulls and cats on bin day.
Mr Bunce's written request was also met with the v-sign from the mayor, Mike Champion.

Mr Collins told the West Briton: "I want to make it absolutely clear that my resignation has nothing to do with the inappropriate comment I made in that meeting. It was below my normal very high standards.
"It was time for me to go because I am concerned with the lack of work that some councillors are putting in to Camborne Town Council."
He added that he would make an unreserved apology for his remark.
Regarding the comment, Mr Bunce said: "I have written to the town clerk and I am waiting for a response. I was surprised that the councillors personalised my request and decided to have a pop at me.
"I haven't seen the minutes and don't want to respond to hearsay."
