Riders make a good start to Series
CHARLOTTE Pollard and Tina Burden got off to a flying start in the Barguse Unaffiliated showjumping series showing their excellent form on Foxy and Ronan respectively.
Tina opened her account with a one-two in the novice class partnering Ronan to the top of the leaderboard just ahead of his half brother Storm.
Tina, who lives at Par, has produced her eye-catching roan son of the Connemara stallion Canal Pirate from a complete novice.
"I'm very proud of him," said Tina, who is a teacher a Fowey School and has a reputation for going home in the ribbons at the Lockengate venue.

North Cornwall Pony Club member Charlotte Pollard clinched a convincing double in the Intermediate and Open sections on Foxy, while Bodmin's Donna Long landed the minimus on Loveny Crackle. The Barguse unaffiliated evening series continues with dressage on February 22 and March 29, while the showjumping competition continues on February 8 and March 15. Lisa Todd of Barguse Riding Centre. said "The launch of our loyalty scheme at our opening show went really well. Nearly all the riders took up the chance to save some money which is fantastic."

Barguse Riding Centre ended the 2012 on a high note with local riders turning out in support of the fun-filled Christmas Show.
The Fancy Dress turned heads with the cutest rosette going to Brynn Endean and Dolly Mixture and the funniest award taken home by Jeddah Bounsall and Tilly while Rebecca Allen and Lucy landed the most imaginative accolade.
The showjumping proved hotly contested with Rebecca Allen and Rusty recording a win in the leading rein stakes over Imogen Sailors and Mouse.
Jodie Stocks recorded the first of her winning treble on Eddie in the 1ft 6ins section before holding her form in a partnership with Caitlyn O'shea with clinch first and second slots in the Horse & Hound and complete the show with a victory in the 2ft section. The aptly named Dancer and Prancer pairs class proved a success story for Tilly Udy (Trixie) and Donna Long with Roseview Little Love while the latter rider went onto join forces with Amber Whetter and Tom to take the 2ft 3ins pairs.
The Chase Me Santa caused a stir as Donna Long soared over a 3ft 9ins fence on Mr R to take the top honour while Brooke Whetter rounded off a successful outing to score her second victory in the 2ft 6ins on her faithful partner Fred.

Following the tremendous success of the Cornwall Trec Quadrille team who won through to the finals at Olympia an open invitation has been extended to any riders interested in being part of the 2013 challenge.
