PHILLEIGH Folk celebrate the opening of their 2013/14 season by welcoming back the Carrivick Sisters next Thursday, September 12, at the Bohella Bar, St Mawes.
Following their runners-up position in last year's BBC Young Folk Musicians of the Year poll, the Carrivick Sisters have been much in demand in folk clubs and festivals all over the UK and Europe purveying their own style of British and American music with more than a hint of bluegrass.
Playing guitar, mandolin, fiddle, dobro and clawhammer banjo, Charlotte and Laura are massively accomplished instrumentalists, singers and songwriters who have received accolades from such diverse sources as Mike Harding, The Daily Telegraph and Q magazine.
This gig is at the beginning of a four-month, 37-date tour, starting in Kent and finishing in Cologne, Germany, just before Christmas, to promote their latest album Over The Edge.
