Roadshow successHouse prices upHoliday homes boost
A recent Stags property roadshow in Guildford, Surrey, took the Westcountry to the Home Counties. The event provided people wishing to escape to the Westcountry with the chance to find out how easy a move could be, eliminating the initial expense of a journey to Dorset, Somerset, Devon or Cornwall.
This year's event proved to be a "resounding success" say organisers, topping last year's figures with a steady stream of visitors throughout the day. The Stags team were on hand to give advice and showcase Westcountry property. Numerous viewings and valuations were booked, with many potential buyers registered.
UK house prices in the past quarter have risen by 2%, according to latest figures.
Prices in the three months to February were 1.9% higher than in the previous three months. This was the third successive increase, according to figures compiled by the Halifax. Prices were also 1.9% higher than in the same period a year ago. The UK average house price is now £163,600.

Commenting, housing economist Martin Ellis says: "The housing market continued to provide evidence of improvement in February. House sales continue on a modest upward trend. We expect to see a national increase in house prices over the course of 2013."
Self-catering visitors spend £3.5bn in the Westcountry every year on food and days out, according to an estate agent who specialises in holiday accommodation.
"The average family spends £683 on food, drink and days out in a week's stay in the South West," says Miles Kevin of Chartsedge. "While it is hard to justify a second home that is only used by one family for two to three weeks a year, those that are let out for up to 40 weeks a year bring much-needed revenue and vibrancy to the region," says Mr Kevin, who is currently marketing purpose-built holiday homes in Talland Bay, South Cornwall, at £370,000 for a three-bedroomed property (pictured above).
