WITH Valentine's Day being the first major date on the calendar, two AA rosette awarded Looe restaurant Barclay House has produced an unforgettable menu, allowing lovers to celebrate and canoodle in the newly restyled restaurant.

Work on the restaurant and kitchens of Barclay House have been a labour of love for hotel owner Malcolm Brooks and for resident proprietors Graham and Gill Brooks, making it very fitting that Valentine's weekend will be the enhanced restaurant's opening weekend.

With love in mind head chef Benjamin Palmer has designed a romantically warming menu.

The five-course menu options include: to start, Falmouth Bay scallops, celeriac and apple purée, crisp black pudding, pea shoots, while main courses include roast Terras farm duck, creamed cabbage, braised root vegetables, spiced honey, duck jus and to finish Barclay House chocolate dessert sampler, this is served to share between two.

The five-course dinner is available on both Saturday and Sunday priced at £45 per guest, which also includes a surprise gift for all ladies.

The daily changing menus are all freshly prepared by head chef Benjamin Palmer using the finest local ingredients including fresh "day boat" fish from the trawlers of Looe, and Camel Valley wine – creating a range of local seasonally inspired dishes.

The AA rosette award winning restaurant at Barclay House serves dinner Monday to Saturday, 7pm to 9pm and Sunday lunch from 12.30pm to 3.30pm, served alfresco when possible.
