Roskear school staff take part in relay triathlon
STAFF from Roskear Primary and Nursery School took part in a gruelling relay triathlon around Falmouth’s coast to promote sport to pupils.
The four staff competed against 15 teams in a 250-metre swim in the sea off Gyllyngvase beach, followed by a 5km cycle around Pendennis Castle and a 1km run along the seafront.
Each team member had to complete the whole mini-triathlon course in turn, with the first starting at 7am on Sunday, August 11.
The Roskear team – which was made up of Steve Eva, business manager, Martin Post, ICT Manager, Kieran Walsh, Year 6 teacher and John Savage, Year 3 teacher – finished in ninth position with a time of one hour, 33 minutes.

Mr Post said: “These members of staff go above and beyond to promote sport at our school and we are very proud of their achievements.”
“Plans have already begun to enter further triathlons this year as individuals as we enjoyed the event so much.
“We will be racing again next year in the race, hopefully convincing enough teachers to enter a 2nd team.
“Triathlon is a fantastic, friendly sport to take part in with races being held nearly every week during the summer.”
