Royal Navy to re-affirm ship's links with Padstow
PADSTOW will be celebrating the arrival of its affiliated Royal Navy ship next month when a ceremony takes place to rededicate its link with the town.
HMS Dasher will be moored in the harbour for four days from March 7 and the ceremony will include a visit by the Royal Marine Band and a fly-past by Merlin helicopters from RNAS Culdrose.

WARM WELCOME: HMS Dasher will be in Padstow to rededicate its affiliation with the town.
HMS Dasher is a Royal Navy P2000 class coastal training vessel which has been tasked to support Bristol University's Royal Naval Unit.
The Royal Navy says this reassignment will once again require her to be a frequent visitor to Padstow and it is therefore appropriate to renew the affiliation.

Padstow School children will be given the chance to visit the ship, and on Sunday, March 10, it will also be open for the public to come onboard from 10am.
Padstow mayor, Teri Walter, said: 'The link between the town and the Royal Navy has always been strong, and I am delighted that this is to be reinforced by the rededication of the affiliation between Padstow and HMS Dasher."
Lieutenant Charles Collins, the ship's commanding officer, said he was looking forward to coming to Padstow.
"It is a great privilege to be in command of HMS Dasher at the time of the rededication. I know from my predecessors that there has always been a warm welcome when the ship has visited Padstow.
"The rededication gives the Royal Navy the opportunity to show our appreciation to the local population," said the officer.
HMS Dasher will be in Padstow's Inner Harbour during its visit.
Schoolchildren will visit the ship on Friday, March 8, and the rededication ceremony will take place the following day with the Royal Marine Band parading to South Quay from the sailing club from 11.15am. The ceremony will begin at 11.45am. HMS Dasher will be open to the public from 10am on Sunday, March 10.

“This article is quite disappointing indeed and deffiantely does not include all the facts. On Thursday 7th March PADSTOW SEA CADETS will also be having a tour of the ship.
The parade on the 9th March is actually being hosted by the Padstow Sea Cadets and will be starting from the Sea Cadet unit in Padstow, has nothing to do with the sailing school at all.
Am very dissapointed that the Padstow Sea Cadets have not been mentioned in any of this at all, shame on you Cornish Guardian”
