Royal couple Prince William and Kate thank Cornish artist for Prince George book
A WRITER and illustrator who created a book about the baby Prince George has been personally thanked by his parents Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The royal couple sent a postcard of thanks to Emily Stanbury, of St Martin, on the Lizard.
Emily also received a letter from the Queen’s lady-in-waiting, saying how much the Royal Family enjoyed reading her book.
The writer said she was thrilled her work, which shows how Prince George is taught his official duties, had been so well received.

She said: “One of the Queen’s ladies-in-waiting wrote to me, thanking me for the book on behalf of the Queen and saying how it had brought pleasure to the entire Royal Family.
“It was a complete surprise and utterly wonderful to know that they had enjoyed the book.
“To make my week even better, I received a postcard from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge a few days later, also thanking me for the book.”
Ms Stanbury graduated from University College Falmouth in 2012 and has won awards, with her competition entry for children’s comic Puffin Post selected for display in London.
“Mostly, I am inspired by nature and animals,” she added. “Particularly, by my two cats, Maggie and Crumble, who are the source of many of my characters.”
Last year, she worked on a story based on a Cornish folk tale, Denzel The Dragon, featured in the event Legends of Helston, and the subsequent exhibition at Helston Museum. She designs images for children’s clothes and books.
