Royal visit planned
PRINCE Charles will officially open Heartlands on Monday before attending a royal party near Truro to celebrate his 60 years as the Duke of Cornwall. He and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will spend the morning meeting Heartlands' staff, supporters and the local community, tour the adventure playground, meeting the children who designed it, and visiting the Diaspora Gardens, which tell the story of miners' dispersion overseas following the closure of the tin mines. On Monday afternoon they will attend a party at Trewithen Gardens near Truro with unsung heroes from a variety of charities and organisations, including Cornish charities with royal patronage. More than 800 guests will include dignitaries and politicians, representatives from food, farming and fishing industries and business, health, cultural, sporting and education sectors. The royal couple visit Scilly next week too: See page 8.
