Rugby club under threat if £7.5k isn't found for flood repairs
THE FUTURE of St Just Rugby Club is under threat unless it can find £7,500 to pay for essential pipework to stop the repeat flooding which has devastated its clubhouse.
The club has been swamped four times since November 24 after the Tregeseal area was flooded.
Although the team has been able to carry on playing matches on the pitch, the clubhouse has been unusable, cutting off a vital income for the club.
Chairman Clive Williams told The Cornishman that unless vital repair work took place to divert water towards a nearby river then the clubhouse could not reopen.

He said: "We will come under financial pressure eventually. We have got an income and some costs we can't avoid.
"We may finish our rugby season this year but if we don't generate some income and get back trading we may not have a rugby club to operate with."
The club has been using St Just Cricket Club facilities since it first flooded last November.
It will be able to recoup some money through insurance, however is unable to reopen the clubhouse until it can be certain that it won't flood again.
Several club members have volunteered to lay the pipework free of charge; however, £7,500 is needed to purchase the materials.
Some flooding has also been experienced on nearby New Road and Cornwall Council has carried out work to clear a nearby culvert to stop flooding on the A3071.
The club has approached Cornwall Council and the Rugby Football Union for financial assistance.
