Ryanair further postpones flights to Spain
RYANAIR today announced it was postponing its flights from Newquay Airport to Spain until June because of a strike at airplane manufacturer Boeing.
The budget airline, which earlier unveiled plans to resume its Newquay flights to and from Alicante in March, said the industrial action had delayed the delivery of an aircraft that was due to operate the route.

It confirmed the setback would not affect its London Stansted-Newquay service which is due to operate again from early March.
The latest blow for passengers came nine days after an independent inquiry was launched into the three-week closure of Newquay Airport in December.
Some 7,000 travellers were affected and had to fly from alternative airports including Plymouth, Bristol and Bournemouth.
Ryanair spokesman Daniel de Carvalho told thisiscornwall.co.uk in a statement: "Ryanair, Europe’s leading low fares airline, today announced that it has had to postpone the operation of it flights from Alicante to and from Newquay until June 2 as a result of strike action at airplane manufacture Boeing.
"This has resulted in the delayed delivery of the aircraft which has been scheduled to operate this route.
"Ryanair is currently processing full refunds to all passengers affected by this delay and contacting them via the e-mail address used at the time of the booking. Ryanair apologises to passengers for the inconvenience caused by this forced cancellation."
Mr de Carvalho added: "Ryanair confirms that its London (Stansted)-Newquay flights are unaffected by this issue and will operate to schedule from early March and that its flights to Alicante will resume from June 2, 2009."
Andrew Mitchell, the county councillor responsible for the Newquay Airport project, said his team was hoping to discuss the impact of the postponed Alicante flights with Ryanair early next week.
"My first reaction is that I feel sorry for the affected passengers," added Cllr Mitchell. "It is unfortunate and if there is anything Newquay Airport can do for Ryanair, we will offer it."

“This is now the second time my flights have been cancelled! Booked to go to Alicante in March, Ryanair suddenly cancelled this flight.
Booked again for three of us to go to Alicante in May, last week Ryanair suddenly cancelled this one as well.
Ryanair must rank as one of the worst airlines in existence. The only reason I was flying with them was the convenience from Newquay. Will steer clear of this shower again, awful firm to deal with!!”

“I booked flights with Ryanair to Girona on the 18th january to fly 9th May they took the booking. No one has contacted me to cancell the flights I have had to contact them on Wednesday this week to be told the flights will not resume for at least six months, today after contacting them again as I still have not had the flights cancellation in writing via email, to be told Alicante isnt running either. They are not very good on customer relations, myself and friends now have to fly from Bristol with another airline. No compensation offered to cover the additonal costs of petrol or car parking. Thanks Ryanair.”
