Sale of Budock Hospital site to Falmouth School 'agreed in principle'
Falmouth School’s desire to buy the former Budock Hospital site to create community sports facilities looks set to become reality after the sale was agreed in principle.
The site had originally been put on the open market by NHS property Services with concerns it would be snapped up by a developer.
However following a debate in Parliament led by Falmouth and Truro MP Sarah Newton it was taken off the market for talks to take place.
She then chaired a meeting between representatives of the school, NHS Property Services and Cornwall Council.

As a result a deal has been agreed in principle.
Sandra Critchley, who has just retired as head of the school, said: “It is wonderful to have reached this stage, securing the site in principle.
“This is really good news for the young people and wider community of Falmouth.”
Falmouth School plans to sell its playing fields at Union Corner to pay for the purchase and creation of an all-weather sports pitch.
Mrs Newton said: “This is absolutely fantastic news, not only for Falmouth School and the NHS, but for the whole community.
“As today was Sandra’s last day as headteacher she will be doubly proud of this wonderful legacy for both the school and the community.”
“I am also extremely grateful to James Wakeham from NHS Property Services.
“Even though NHS Property Services has only recently launched, he and his colleagues have worked with me to find a solution.
“I am also grateful to Cornwall Council for all working together and ensuring that the best needs of the community are served.”
