Santas ditch reindeer power for electric car
CHRISTMAS came early for staff at Cornwall Hospice Care this week after the charity received a new motor to promote their Santa fun runs.
The charity, which has Santa runs lined up across the county in the run-up to Christmas, received a Peugeot iOn from Hawkins Motors on Thursday.
Rose Wiltshire, major events fundraiser for Cornwall Hospice Care, said: "We are delighted that the Hawkins Motor Group has provided this vehicle.
"Not only will it help promote our events, it will save the charity money in vehicle and fuel costs and is good for the environment."

Johnny Hawkins, from Hawkins, said he was glad the firm could help. "We're delighted to be able to help this excellent cause by providing a vehicle for their fun run events," Mr Hawkins said. "The car is completely electric, meaning when it's in 'drive' mode it doesn't give off any polluting or carbon dioxide emissions at all, making it one of the most environmentally friendly electric vehicles on the market.
"Better still, it will only cost Cornwall Hospice Care around £2 to charge the vehicle and, with a battery life of up to 93 miles, the charity is sure to save money on fuel costs."
The charity has Santa fun runs planned for Truro, Newquay, Padstow, Land's End, Falmouth and Heartlands in Pool.
