Say your piece on three major St Austell plans
ST AUSTELL residents are being urged to attend a crunch public meeting to discuss three controversial planning applications – all of which centre around a new supermarket for the town.
In just under two weeks members of the public will be able to have their say on plans for Coyte Farm in St Mewan and at both Pentewan Road and Penwinnick Road in St Austell.

The Coyte Farm application outlines a £110 million development including a Sainsbury's as well as a 160,000sq ft shopping park, care home and pub.
Controversially, it would have more retail floor space than all St Austell's town-centre shops combined.

Developer Terrace Hill has applied to demolish the existing Cornwall Council offices on Penwinnick Road to make way for 21st-century offices and a new supermarket.
Cornwall Council said the proposed four-storey office block would safeguard the 450 public sector jobs in the town and save about £700,000 a year.
Terrace Hill has applied to build a food store next door, creating about 350 jobs.
The third application is for a Morrison's supermarket on brownfield land at the Pentewan Lab site, by developers Broadley Park Properties.
The public meeting will be held on January 16 at 6pm in the Council Chamber at St Austell One Stop Shop, Penwinnick Road.
All are welcome and on arrival will be able to register their wish to speak.
Mike Varney, chairman of Cornwall Council's strategic planning committee, said: "I'm aware that there are a lot of people who want to have their say and we on the strategic planning committee want to listen to them."
The three planning applications will then be considered by the strategic planning committee on January 30.

“Im all for the regeneration of St Austell , but please Planners build on land that has already been used and is now in need of being put to better use. Dont build on the Green fields that are the entrance to St Austell.”

“They haven't mentioned the proposal to dig up the land between St Austell and St Blazey and "develop" it. This together with the Penwinnick Road and Coyte Farm developments will create what could be the longest traffic jam in the country. And to add to it the building east of Truro will clog up that part of the county with vehicles. Planners? They are ruining Cornwall.”
