Scheme for 90 homes in Mabe approved by Cornwall Council's strategic planners
Proposals to build 90 homes on land at Mabe have been supported by Cornwall Council.
Members of the strategic planning committee have just agreed to the scheme by Taylor Wimpey Exeter, Treliever Developments Ltd and Elstrad Ltd to transform a piece of green field land off Treliever Road.

The scheme includes 60 open market and 30 affordable units, ranging from one-bed to four-bed properties.
Local ward member Chris Ridgers said the number of homes in the parish had increased by 15 per cent between 1991 and 2010 and this scheme represented an identical growth in one go.

"This represents all the growth for Mabe as a parish for the next 20 years," he said.
Despite his concerns and objections from 17 people and the parish council, the application was recommended for approval.
However, this is subject to legal agreements for contributions towards education, public open space and £135,000 towards highways, including for pedestrian crossing on the A39.
It was agreed to look to ringfence the education money solely for Mabe School, which currently had just one space.
Councillor Mary May said: "I think the benefits outweighs the harm. Mabe has a price to pay, but we all have a price to pay when it comes to affordable housing."

“What about the thousands of brown field sites crying out to be brought back into use? Has Cornwall Council never heard of them or are they hellbent on covering all the greenfield sites with concrete?”

“Yet another greenfield development. It is almost as if Cornwall Council has a preference for them.”
